Future of Shipping: Future Fuels and Infrastructure Readiness (Webinar)
Following on from the BritCham Singapore’s excellent webinar on the subject of “Decarbonising Shipping“ on the 22nd April, the Energy Institute Asia Pacific is pleased to announce its intent to run a series of regional webinars on the “Future of Shipping” which aims to examine how this huge and highly complex sector will evolve given rapidly changing global trends, increasingly stringent environmental considerations and accelerating pace of technology advancement.
The first of these webinars will take place on Thursday 4th June 2020 at 4pm (Singapore Time) and will focus “Future Fuels – Technology and Infrastructure Readiness”
In line with the IMO initial GHG strategy, shipping has been set a target of reducing GHG emissions by at least 50% in 2050. In order to get there, the first zero-emissions vessels will have to enter service by 2030. To achieve this, significant strides in ship propulsion and fuel infrastructure needs to be developed and funded.
This webinar will explore the various low to zero carbon fuels considered and what this means for possible technology and supply chain infrastructure development.
The webinar will be led by Douglas Raitt ( Lloyd’s Register- Regional Advisory Services Manager) with short presentations by industry experts from Orsted, Wartsila, the Methanol Institute and Singapore’s Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) @ NTU followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
We are pleased to announce that this series of webinars is also being supported by Lloyd’s Register, BritCham Singapore, the Energy Industries Council, and in association with Singapore Maritime Institute and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST).
Please register online to ensure that you receive further details on how to join the webinar on Thursday 4th June 2020 at 4pm (Singapore Time).
