In Conversation with YolanDa Brown OBE and Tanglin’s Director of Music

Award-winning saxophonist, broadcaster, entrepreneur and music education advocate YolanDa Brown OBE joins Tanglin's Director of Music, Rob Hall, for a conversation on the future of music education in a rapidly changing world. Alongside her distinguished career as a performer, YolanDa serves as Chair of the BPI (Brit Awards / Mercury Prize), Chancellor of the University of Kent and the University of Greenwich and has been a leading voice in championing the value of music education and the creative industries.

Drawing on her experiences in academia, as a performer, entrepreneur and advocate for music education, YolanDa will reflect on the enduring importance of creativity, interpretation, performance and expression, and consider how these uniquely human capabilities can continue to thrive alongside new technologies. The discussion will explore the tension between what is evolving and what endures in music education, examining how schools can prepare students for emerging opportunities across the creative industries while preserving the fundamentally human qualities that make music such a powerful force for learning, connection and self-expression.
