Singapore Launches Five Initiatives to Strengthen Integration of Foreign Professionals

On 10 July 2026, the Alliance for Action on Integration of Foreign Professionals (AfA-IFP) launched a report jointly developed by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), and the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). The report sets out five endorsed initiatives aimed at helping new foreign professionals better understand Singapore's living and working norms, while supporting firms in embedding inclusive local-foreigner integration practices in the workplace.

Effective integration benefits the whole of society: fair and inclusive workplace practices build more productive teams and stronger businesses, mutual understanding between locals and foreign professionals fosters stronger community relationships, and a cohesive, cosmopolitan Singapore remains more globally competitive.

For New Foreign Professionals

1. Employment Pass (EP) Journey
Gives EP holders a baseline understanding of working and living in Singapore through self-paced e-learning modules, visits to local cultural institutions, and workplace diversity workshops.

2. TAC-Led Orientation Day
A sector-specific orientation programme for new foreign professionals, combining panel discussions, networking sessions, and experiential cultural segments to deepen understanding of local workplace and social norms.

3. Integration Playbook
A modularised, step-by-step toolkit with customisable templates, case studies (including SMEs), and hands-on workshops and implementation clinics to help firms roll out effective integration practices.

4. Cultural Sensitivity Training Course
Equips HR professionals and team leaders with the soft skills to navigate diverse workplaces, covering unconscious bias, cross-cultural communication styles, and interactive role-play on real-life case studies, all in line with Singapore's fair hiring and progressive practices.
