Event: The Chartered Professional Bodies Overseas Delegation

In April 2018 the Department for International Trade (DIT) led the UK government’s first ever overseas trade delegation to promote the British professional Chartered bodies and explore how Britain can support local training and vocational education development.

Chartered Bodies are a key component of the UK’s global leadership in setting international people, ethical and technical standards that drive best practice. Covering professions ranging from management to accountancy, engineering and surveying, Chartered status for individuals is prestigious, coveted and trusted. They also play a critical role in capacity building, helping economies to grow, driving educational standards and innovation, and supporting common governance standards to support trade.

Six Chartered bodies visited Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam to meet with industry, higher education and policymakers in to promote British Chartered standards and to boost international ties. DIT has assembled the delegation as part of its Education is GREAT Britain campaign to develop new partnerships based on internationally recognised professional standards, accreditations, skills development and support.

On the 18th April 2018 the British Chamber team worked with DIT to organise multiple successful roundtable discussion sessions as part of the mission. The sessions were held at the British High Commissioner's residence in Singapore, Eden Hall.
