Ian Macdonald took on the role of CEO Asia Pacific in 2024. Ian joined Aberdeen Investments in 2013 as the deputy to the APAC CEO, a position through which he undertook various additional leadership roles, including Head of Hong Kong and Singapore. Ian’s professional career commenced at PwC as an accountant from
1994 to 1998, before transitioning to investment banking with Lazard and HSBC from 1998 to 2008. In 2008 Ian moved to the asset management industry, leading Arisaig Partners, an Asia Pacific equities manager.

Ian is a qualified chartered accountant (ICAEW) and an alum of London University, IMD, Harvard Business School and INSEAD.

He is honorary secretary for the Investment Management Association of Singapore.
