#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 7 August 2026
Superb week to update in my #FridayFive – this update feels light, but its been an incredibly busy week!!
1. Singapore to Brunei: I was delighted to join HMTC Martin Kent CMG on his visit to #Brunei as we met with the Britain Brunei Business Forum, sharing ideas on supporting #UK trade, the #ASEAN opportunities for the UK, and how Chambers collectively can share and support each other in the region. Special thanks to His Excellency Ken O'Flaherty for hosting so fantastically, to Ann Herrigan, Sabrina , Redzwan Kamarudin and Martin Burley for supporting the programme too, and of course to the BBBF committee who spent their time with me: Dr Siva Subramaniam, Heeman, Jacqueline Tan and Charles Ting. It was also a privilege to see Daniel Leong from the Brunei Economic Development Board, and join meetings with both the Honourable Data Dr Abdul Manaf, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Dato Dr Amin Liew, Minister of Finance II, and Chair of the Brunei Investment Agency. Pleasure also to see Allen Lai from BBBF and UK-ABC. Thanks for the warm welcome and productive few days.
2. International Chamber network: Thank you to Felipe Espinosa M (费利佩 埃斯皮诺萨) and Raul Adler for a great call with the Latin American Chambr of Commerce, as we talked about cross-chamber collaboration in #Singapore. With three countries in their Chamber in the #CPTPP, we’re looking at some options on how we can join up on content to support both our members business networks. See you both soon!
3. Next steps for our wider community: Lucy Haydon and I have been working with a few of the Singapore agencies on a community programme. As "community" is one of the five themes of the chamber, we are looking how we can do even more to support. More news to follow.
4. Getting exciting: Our #Sustainability Dialogue on the 3rd September is really gathing pace. We’ve got such a brilliant speaker line up, and thank you so much to our committees who are shaping this. We’ve had calls with a few government agencies this week, and the programme is looking spectacular. I’ll put a link in the comments below - its a great event to be at.
5. Awesome Network: We had a New Members Meeting this week, welcoming new members to the Chamber network, and I’ve had so many brilliant catch ups with members throughout the week too. The heartbeat of the Chamber. I always apprecaite meeting our members and supporting where we can.
Happy National Day to everyone in Singapore. Proud to do our part to support the business community in this mighty red dot.
