#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 5 September 2025
My #FridayFive on the first Friday of September (which also happens to be Bring Your Manners To Work Day… who knew… thanks Hana Baker!). Its been a wind-credible week across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham)...
1. Thank you Tee: Great to catch up with Tee Bale, GM at the The British Club Singapore as we met up with Stephan Kapek from the Shangri-La Group this week. Much to follow and great to share ideas. Sorry to Tee that I wasn’t able to get to the reception last night.
2. Rethinking Trade: Thanks to Steve Dawson from Asia Market Entry for his session with us on market entry support with me, the team and board members Prakash Pinto and Simon Middlebrough. The Chamber is here to support UK companies looking to expand into Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia market. Much to come.
3. Ever grateful: Met some brilliant members this week, including the awesome Godelieve van Dooren from Mercer (lots more to do and such a great sharing session across Chambers too!), Min Yih Tan and Sarah Khoo from Shell, Garth Turnbull from JLR (welcome back to Singapore!) and Wee Kiat Aw Wee and Stephanie Howe from Harry's Singapore. Also lovely to see the lovely Janelle Gavin from Mott MacDonald back in Singapore and Alistair Scott 😊
4. Engaging the Universities: Thank you to Lissy Vadakel and Kane F. from the British Council, together with Lydia Rigby for all of your engagement this week as we continue to plan and work on our UK University Fair in November. Lots to do, but an exciting time as we continue to promote the very best of UK universities.
5. Sustainability Report: We launched our sustainability report this week, where we map all of our activities against the UN’s SDGs and demonstrate our commitment to all things E S and G. Also had a brilliant call as we get ready for our Sustainability Dialogue next week which is looking epic! This weeks theme!
Bad habits leaf a lasting impression, so I also had a bit of a desk tidy too, going through hundreds and hundreds of cards.
Thanks for your on-going interest in my #FridayFive and have a fab weekend!
