#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 5 June 2026

A hole lot to cover in my #FridayFive across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) this week. This is what has been going on…

1.  Dialogue – this week, the Chambers from across APAC, convened online, thanks to HMTC for APAC, Martin Kent, as we discussed regional strategic importance, strategic plans (both Gov’t and the British Chambers of Commerce), the BCC Diplomatic Advisory Hub, Trade Accelerators, Media, Financial Sustainability, Advocacy and of course Trade. Chambers from #Singapore, #SouthKorea, #NewZealand, the #Philippines, #Taiwan, #Cambodia, #Vietnam, #Australia, #Brunei, #Indonesia, #Myanmar, #Japan and #Laos were all in attendance. Huge thanks to the AWESOME Louella Pitt who really made this happen, to Shevaun Haviland and Anne-Marie Martin from the BCC, and to guest speakers, Edwina Chin from PwC, Sam Wood, Francesca Clough, Lt Cdr Nelson M. and Tony Ruddenklau (KPMG Singapore). A brilliant session galvanising the British Chambers across the region.

2.  Opportunities – we had our first board meeting since the AGM for the Chamber as we talked about a number of opportunities that we are working on to support UK trade in Singapore. Great feedback, and as we progress our new strategy, we have some really exciting opportunities to increase the network in Singapore.

3.  Networking – Lots of excellent meetings this week. Thanks to Taylor Wamberg from Lloyd's Register, Richard Bradshaw from Ethos BeathChapman, Sean Ramsden MBE from Ramsden International, Colin Tan, Jonathan Simons and Jenny Makin from Bentley Singapore

4.  Understandings – Haslam Preeston and I had the pleasure of having our monthly breakfast with H.E. Nikesh Mehta OBE, together with Niall Ahern. The relationship between the Chamber and the (UK in Singapore) High Commission is world-class as we discussed a busy few weeks ahead for Team UK.

5.  Teamwork – last night we hosted 115 pax at our Annual Pub Quiz. Such a great night, BRILLIANT networking. It is a massive team effort putting the quiz on, so thank you to the entire Chamber team for another great evening. Loved seeing so many familiar faces. Massive thanks to venue host Lion Brewery Co and prize sponsors Shangri-La Singapore and House of Perfumes. What a night!

So a pretty brilliant week if I dough’t say. Happy Donut Day! Have a great weekend and see you next week.
