#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 25 July 2025
Thanks for all the lovely messages in last weeks #FridayFive. A wonderfully mixed week ending on the Friday 25th July at the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham):
1. Looking Deeper at Singapore: We had a brilliant tour of the local area of Singapore, as part of #RacialHarmonyDay on Monday. Our expert tour guides took us from the office and through towards China town. Thank you to Acting High Commissioner, Lucy Hughes, to our Official Inclusion and Opportunities Partner, Barclays, and to everyone who joined us for joining us as we celebrated a day of diversity.
2. In and around ASEAN: There are some people I meet around the network that really make an impact. Stephen Phillips OBE from BDO in the Philippines is one of those people. Had a brilliant call following his trip to the UK and talking about the regional chamber network. Thanks Stephen for your engagement in the British Chambers of Commerce network.
3. On Partnerships: A huge thank you to the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry who hosted President Haslam Preeston and VP Suzy Goulding for a wonderful dinner. It was nice to see Jens Ruebbert (EuroCham) and always brilliant to see Godelieve van Dooren. The Chambers of Commerce are such an important and vibrant network of businesses and the connectivity across our organisations is really important.
4. New and Current Members: Met lots of members this week. Great to see Allan Boyd over from Vietnam, to catch up with Alistair Scott and Andrew Clark, had a great evening with Tee Bale, caught up with Piers Mallitte Chris Marriott and Otto Twist, David Douglass and Andrew McKeown.
5. Sustainability Dialogue Launched: So pleased to see our 2nd Sustainability Dialogue launch this week. It’s a genuinely brilliant and impactful event. I’ll pop a link in the comments for those who want to join us on the 9th September. Huge shout out to our Sustainability and Resilience business committee and the steering committee across the Chamber network. This event really is looking world-class...
So I signed off the week reflecting on some brilliant meetings and people with both the British & Irish Lions and the Lionesses all playing this weekend. See you soon. 🦁
