#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 22 August 2025

Its an unbeleafable #FridayFive on the 22nd August across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham)… another blooming busy but brilliant week to talk about:

1.   People are awesome: Thank you to the team at 42 Wealth Management for the invitation to join their Keystone Networking Event. A fab discussion and a great opportunity to bring a range of minds and experiences together. Great to also catch up with former Financial and Fintech committee member, Mike Rourke whilst he’s been back in Singapore this week. And lastly, fab to catch up and the awesome Alessandro Esposito after so long too.

2.   Looking to the future: Thank you to Courtney G. from UCAS for his update on student figures and opportunities around the next generation studying in the UK. We’ve also been working on our UK University Fair programme in November, and our next to be launched internship programme here for students to meet with CEOs in our network (keep an eye out!). Today, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting 5 amazing future minds from the University of New South Wales talking about Chambers of Commerce and the role we play in supporting business. Thank you to Danny Bowerin and the AustCham Singapore, and future stars Nisha Long Ellen Lim Nidhi Gokhale Jason Jun Lao Kaylene Tan. Keep in touch!

3.   ABIS: Another great call with colleagues from across the region as we build our Britain in South East Asia | BiSEA conference and plan our engagement with the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit in Malaysia in a few months.

4.   New connections: It was great to reconnect with the team from the BBC News this week, and to attend the Financial Times Club NED Networking Asia event as well. Fab to talk a load of ship with Peter Cotopoulis and lovely to meet Mumtaz Moiz from the The Esplanade Co Ltd too.

5.   Tremendous Committees: Our business committees are the heartbeat of the Chamber, and was delighted to join our Women in Business Committee. We’re starting to get into the place of planning and support better connectivity across our committee structure too.

So as we rush into our weekends, two shout outs to Harry H. who’s been helping me on some specific projects and Hana Baker who has been supporting trade services and the team and writes a brilliant news round update for the team: Happy plant-based milk day (who knew, and the link in this weeks #FridayFive if you were wondering!) for all those who choose an alternative to traditional dairy! Have a great weekend and see you soon.
