#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 17 April 2025
Happy Easter! Here’s my (Good) #FridayFive in a week where I found out our podcast channel has had over 30,000+ downloads! An awesome milestone and well done to Dominic Gabriel-Dean, Faiz Sulaiman, Lydia Rigby, Lucy Haydon, Caitrin Moh and the whole British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) team.
1. Byron Sharp: What a fantastic session with Ehrenberg-Bass Institute Director and global marketing guru Byron Sharp, who spoke with our marketing and communications committee leaders. Some amazing insights into marketing strategy, mental and physical availability, how some brands get it wrong and why, and some really useful tips for leaders. Safe onward travels, Byron, and hope to see you back in #Singapore soon. 👨🏫📈
2. Unwrapping 10 years of Singapore: I had the pleasure and privilege of recording a podcast with Nick Magnus MBE on his 10 year journey in Singapore from building Dulwich College (Singapore). A truly inspiring journey, and a podcast to keep an eye on! 🎙️ 🏫
3. New to me: Thank you to Matthew Dabbs and the team at GP Bullhound for a brilliant event at the Mandala Club discussing #quantum. Talking Government funding, VC’s needing more academics in this space, 0.3 applicants for every 1 position shows a talent shortage. Sectors to watch are Bio/pharma, finance and defence. Singapore is stimulating start-ups in this space. Great presentation by Callum Stewart, PhD, and panel member Ben Prade, moderated by Shahril Hamdan. When is quantum going to crack Bitcoin?? Thanks to the awesome Desiree M. Tan for joining me too. 📶🛰️
4. New Connections: I was delighted to meet Martin McGregor, Chair of the British Association of Singapore , and fellow maritime industry graduate! We talked about the community, alignment of events and supporting those in our networks. Great to meet you Martin! Also fab to meet Alessandro Sorgenti for the first time, and welcome back Daniel Keki from Revolut as we talked about future plans. 👋🗣️
5. Yes! to Digital Trade: Great to meet visiting MD of InspireXT – Kuldeep T. together with British Chamber of Commerce Singapore TLSC Committee member Kirti Pathania today. We discussed UK exports, digitalising supply chains, the partnerships that Kirti has built in Singapore and Tariffs! Thanks so much for popping in, and enjoy the rest of your holiday in Japan Kuldeep. 🚚💻
🐰 Hoppy Easter for all those who celebrate and see you next time!
