#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 11 July 2025

Here’s my #FridayFive in another busy week at the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham), and its been neigh bad…! Here are the mane things that have happened so far…

1. Hosting: Awesome to welcome Yasutaka Mizutani (Mizu) President APAC at Colt Technology Services and Russell Toop - Chartered MCSI today as we talked about business, the UK offer and tech and telcos around the region. Really inspiring meeting, and another great way to sign off a busy week. Thank you Mizu and safe travels back to the #UK – see you back here soon - I hope I can get a copy of your speech on #AI

2. Onboarding: Great to welcome Harry who has started with us for a few days a week. What a brain! He’s helping with some specific projects and look forward to seeing how these develop. Welcome to the team Harry!

3. Regional activity: The regional British Chambers across ASEAN all met online this week as we progress our next meeting in #Malaysia which is being planned around the ASEAN Business Investment Summit in October. I met with the ASEAN-BAC in London in March earlier this year and look forward to supporting the team at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) for their hosting of the regional Chambers. I have to also say we’re sorry to lose Jennifer Lopez, CEO of the BMCC who is leaving after 7 amazing years. She’s leaving one hell of a legacy. Jen, thanks for all you have done, and see you in a few weeks

4. Strategy Day: Like any business hitting the half year point, the Chamber team pressed pause for a day to look at our half year results, and planning for the back end of the year. Thank you to the Awesome Alexander Harrison and his team at Barclays for hosting us. Members come first and I felt energised after the day as we focussed on our objectives as a Chamber.

4. Engagement across our network: Met some brilliant leaders this week… Janelle Gavin (huge thank you) who was over on holiday and spent some time with Lucy Haydon and I, Matthew Dabbs from new member 42 Wealth Management, Steve O'Connor, John Elkovich and Andy Sumner from St. James's Place – Asia & Middle East (thanks for the view from your office!) and David Buckley-Bolt too. Also good to talk to Felipe Pinchemel at the Embassy of Brazil in Singapore and meet Ambassador Luciano Mazza de Andrade with Lydia Rigby. Lots of great conversations and look forward to progressing these with you all! Thanks for making my week!

And that's it. A tenuous link this week, but the equestrian is, who knew today is UN International Horse Day today! Hope you have a good week as you canter towards your weekends. Welcome to all of our new members, and see you soon.
