#FridayFive from the Executive Director: 1 May 2026
I can’t #claim its been a quiet week in todays #FridayFive across the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore, but #assure you its been worth it…!
1. Launching an Innovation Hub: A milestone moment, as Lloyd's Asia and the British Chamber of Commerce Singapore (BritCham) launched an innovation hub. The start of a really exciting journey, taking two POCs around payments and data, together with three of the amazing alummi from Lloyds Lab. A really exciting start as two epic conveners working together across the market to provide genuine solutions to defined problems. Thank you to the amazing Emma Loynes and team in Singapore, together with Louise and Hana from the Chamber team.
2. London Leading Insurance: I had the pleasure of pseudo-chairing a meeting with Lloyds of London Chairman Sir Charles Roxburgh, and APAC CEO Emma Loynes, together with Haslam Preeston, Prakash Pinto and Simon Middlebrough. It was excellent to share our knowledge as a Chamber, hearing about Lloyds’ strategy (the theme of this weeks #FridayFive if you’ve not got it by now!), together with the innovation opportunities and ability to bring the worlds best risk professionals together to service global markets. It was also a pleasure to join a dinner hosted by H.E. Nikesh Mehta OBE last night.
3. On sustainability principles: Thank you to the UN Global Compact Network Singapore Team for visiting me and Lydia, together with the Chair of our Sustainability and Responsibility committee, Tom Gwyn. It was excellent to talk about our ambitions to support small and large businesses on their sustainability journeys, with some good opportunities around our Sustainability Diaglogue (September 3rd) later this year. Thank you to David Forgarty, Anil Mahtani, June H. and Brigitta Ariella for the excellent meeting.
4. Yes to great conversations: Many catch-ups this week across our membership: Thanks to Tim Rockell, James Price and Steve O'Connor for our various updates, together with Lissy and Kane F. as we continued conversations about a UK University Fair in #Singapore this year, and of course to Alistair Church for coming to see us too. Another shout out to Nik and Niall Ahern for your continued connectivity at our monthly breakfast.
5. D’oing more for the UK: It was excellent to connect with Mark Shepherd from Invest Manchester, together with Colin Tan, as we continued discussions on supporting businesses in Manchester and inward investment.
So… whilst a shorter week with a public holiday thrown in, a really brilliant one. Have a great long weekend everyone. That fully covers it for this week.
