Our Year in Review - the Marketing & Communications Committee

Chair: Suzy Goulding // Co-Chair: Andrew Clark

Despite the year of awfulness many of us have experienced, the M&C Committee members have rallied to remind us all of what a Committee should be:

  • a support network for your fellow members
  • a source of inspiration to others in your industry to share ideas, contacts, new business opportunities
  • a much needed sounding board when you’re struggling and
  • a place where you can laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

Despite only being able to meet virtually, our Committee is stronger than ever this year. Our members continue to be generous with their time and their contacts despite weathering their own personal and professional storms.

Our focus as a Committee has always been to try and provide practical support to our fellow marketers – whether through events or content. We felt this focus was ever more pertinent this year when so many in our industry are at risk of redundancy, looking to re-skill, or re-shaping their business model to either take advantage or survive in this strange new world we find ourselves in. This is what we continued to do in 2020.

From useful hints and tips on marketing from home and engaging with remote employees to hosting webinars on raising your game on social media, we concentrated our efforts on where we felt our expertise was most useful.

Despite the tough months, I know I speak for all of our committee members when I say that we are optimistic for the opportunities 2021 may bring and are very much looking forward to being able to meet face to face again in the (hopefully!) not too distant future.
