Insights into Paya Lebar Quarter – A Progressive and Sustainable New City Precinct

On 6th June 2018 international property and infrastructure group, Lendlease, shared their philosophy on Urban Regeneration – transforming spaces into vibrant, master planned places for the community through urban living and design. 
 
The team from Paya Lebar Quarter provided first-hand insights into Lendlease’s largest mixed use development in Singapore.
 

 

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

 
Richard Paine has 30 years of property industry experience and has worked on numerous high profile projects, in partnership with co-investors in the Asia Pacific region. 
 
With 17 years’ real estate experience in Asia, Richard has developed an extensive network with government agencies, investors, banks and key stakeholders. Richard has a very good understanding of the success factors for property development, ownership and performance. 
 
Richard was previously Managing Director of Investment Management, Asia, where he was responsible for the Lendlease Investment Management, Asset & Property Management businesses in Asia, with over S$5 billion in assets under management. 
 
Prior to Investment Management, Richard was Head of Integrated Solutions, leading a team in matching capital to the numerous project opportunities available to Lendlease. The team comprised research, capital transaction, equity sourcing and product development functions.
 
Richard now leads the S$3.3 billion Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ), a centrally located international mixed use development and a key catalyst to the URA masterplan to transform Paya Lebar into Singapore’s new regional business hub.  
 
Richard holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mech) (Hons) degree from the University of Sydney. He also possesses a graduate diploma of Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute.
 

 
Simon is Sustainability Director at Lendlease working on two of Lendlease’s largest integrated mixed use projects in Asia – Paya Lebar Quarter in Singapore and TRX Lifestyle Quarter in Kuala Lumpur.
 
Prior to joining Lendlease in October 2014, Simon founded Cundall, a leading sustainability consultancy in the Asia Pacific region. Starting in Sydney in 2003, the business grew to seven offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Shanghai, Adelaide, Hong Kong, Perth and Singapore.
 
Simon has some 20 years’ experience across a wide range of green and energy efficient buildings globally. His Environment and Sustainable Development project direction includes the ground-breaking Rouse Hill Town Centre, 1 Bligh in Sydney, 1 Hyde Park in London and more recently Barangaroo in Sydney.
 
Simon holds a Bachelor of Science in Building Services from Coventry University.
