BritCham Announces the Winners of the 18th Annual Business Awards

The winners of this years' Annual Business Awards were announced at a Gala Presentation & Dinner at the Shangri La Hotel on 28th September 2017

Congratulations to the winners of our 18th Annual Business Awards!

 

Our winners were celebrated at a Gala Presentation and Dinner of almost 300 guests on 28th September 2017 at the Shangri-La Hotel. The Awards were presented to the winners in nine categories by our Chamber President Bicky Bhangu and His Excellency Scott Wightman, the British High Commissioner. The BBC’s Sharanjit Leyl presented the Awards for the 12th year. 

 

We were also delighted and honored to be joined on the evening by our Guest of Honor Josephine Teo, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Manpower and Foreign Affairs.

OUTSTANDING UK-SINGAPORE COLLABORATION

 

 

 

 
This award went go to a Singapore-registered enterprise that demonstrates strong collaboration between Singapore and the UK. Our judging panel looked for Singapore-registered enterprises that demonstrate successful collaborations between UK and Singapore, which lead to growth, innovation, employment and investment, whether in the UK, Singapore or ASEAN.
 
Judge Chow Wan Thonh, Head of Global Banking, HSBC Singapore was particularly impressed by Rolls-Royce’s ability to “develop talent in the country, collaborate with the local universities and build a regional hub in Singapore through knowledge transfer from the UK.

EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION

 

 

 

 

Judges looked for entries that demonstrate how businesses have embraced innovation to overcome challenges, and have deployed technology to improve business results, productivity and customer satisfaction.

Jonathan's resilience and foresight in blazing a trail, coupled with a genuine desire to catalyse his clients' success, won the vote of the judging panel. Phil Townend, Chief Commercial Officer at Unruly APAC says of him,

Our judging panel looked for organisations that demonstrate and lead a working culture that values the differences between people and provide unbiased and equal opportunities.

 

As champions of cultural dexterity, PwC executes D&I programmes not as an obligation, but a determinant of success in their business. They have developed a Global Inclusion Index that requires its firms to use data analytics to plan, execute and track the progress of their D&I programmes.
 
These programmes, which the judging panel deems “brilliant” and “progressive” are designed to attract, develop, and advance the most talented individuals regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability status or any other dimension of diversity.

START-UP EXCELLENCE

 

 

 

 

Our judging panel looked for an outstanding new company established in Singapore from 2014 onwards that has demonstrated business growth, implementation of innovate business strategies and market leadership in its sector.

 

Nova Satra has a mandate to empower patients and physicians through advanced developments in molecular diagnostics. Led by an impressive management team, this start-up has raised over US$2m from institutional investors towards a game-changing blood test they’ve developed, capable of providing non invasive, convenient and accurate detection of cancer based on Asian-specific epigenetic biomarkers.
 
Our judging panel has great hopes for Nova Satra's past and future achievements, citing them as "potentially transformative medtech developed specifically for Asia. This will potentially enhance the lives of thousands."
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

EXCELLENCE IN SUSTAINABILITY

 

 

 

 
Our judging panel was on a lookout for business models that not only conform to legal standards of best practice and governance but also contribute to and invest in the community in which they operate.
 
Judge Phil Townend, Chief Commercial Officer at Unruly APAC, was appreciative of the company’s “brilliant set up to de-risk and catalyse infrastructure projects which are changing the lives of thousands, whilst driving inward investment by the private sector.”

With customers at the heart of their business, Tower Transit Singapore have achieved "fantastic reach", as pointed out by Judge Bal Bagary, Interim Country Manager, Barclays Singapore & CFO, Barclays Asia Pacific.

SUCCESS IN ASEAN

 

 

 

 

This award is dedicated for Singapore registered companies that have proven results within the ASEAN region. Our judging panel looked for a concisely executed ASEAN strategy with objectives embedded in the organisation that demonstrate regional connectivity.

 

As Asia’s very own online social fundraising platform, SimplyGiving enable non-profits and social enterprises to crowdfund for donations and social loans that support causes in ASEAN and beyond. They work with over 950 partners and 34,000 donors and fundraisers across 20 countries, providing tailored online tools and support in order to increase donor reach.

 

"An amazing example of a digital organisation whose platform touches the lives and communities of thousands acorss the region. Customised by language and currency, Simply Giving is a truly region-wide community contributor," our judging panel affirms.
