Robo vs Human in Financial Advisory: What you need to know

The Women in Business and Financial Services committees are delighted to host an evening panel discussion on financial advisory. This session will focus on the digital delivery of roboadvisors versus traditional human advisors such as bankers and asset managers.
 
The panel will consist of a VC investor, entrepreneurs and traditional asset manager. The discussion will touch on the merits and limitations of both roboadvisory and human relationships. The speakers will also talk about the notions of trust and investment performance in today’s environment. There will also be a discussion on the differences between men and women when it comes to investing and decision making, followed by Q&A.
 
You will learn about: 
  • personal investing starting from the retail level,
  • the mechanics behind roboadvisory,
  • the benefits of wealth management, and
  • the challenges and benefits the industry faces with increased digitalization.
 
This event is recommended for participants concerned with personal investing and wanting to understand the advent of roboadvisory and the nuances of having a relationship with wealth managers.
 
This event will include wine, soft drinks and light canapes and time during registration and post event for networking with other members and guests. 
 

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Gina is a Founding Partner at LATTICE80. Previously she founded MissKaya.com, a women-centric financial services platform, under the Marvelstone Capital (a portfolio company of Marvelstone Group). Prior to founding Marvelstone Group, she was a venture partner at Yozma Ventures (Korea) and co-founded two asset management firms in Singapore. Gina has also worked at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Cerulli Associates, where she gained expertise in sectors such as asset management, telecommunications, commodities and infrastructure, in Southeast Asia, China, India and Australia. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from University of Pennsylvania.

Michele is the Co-Founder and CEO of StashAway. Until recently, he was the Group CEO of ZALORA where he was responsible for it growing 15x and becoming the undisputed leader in the market. Before ZALORA, Michele founded the Italian and Pakistani operations of Rocket Internet, launching 5 companies in these 2 countries. From 2004 to 2012, Michele worked in the financial industry, first as a consultant at McKinsey (Milan and New York offices) where he served primarily Financial Institutions, then in Milan-based Private Equity Fund Manager Synergo. At McKinsey, he advised several world-class financial institutions on a variety of topics. Michele earned his MBA at Columbia Business School and his Bachelor of Science in Finance at Bocconi University in Italy. Michele has been invited by Singapore’s Minister of Finance to be a member of the Committee for the Future of the Economy.

Ben joined M&G in 2009 as a Partnerships Development Director dealing with the UK's Life Company, Platform and Advisory community. In this role he also covered the Middle East and Asia in association with the firm’s various International Life company partners. In 2013, Ben joined M&G Asia's Singapore office as Sales Director, Intermediary Channels, Asia Pacific, overseeing the group’s footprint across Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Dubai. Ben has a BA in Business Studies, specialising in Finance from Bournemouth University.

 

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

Adrian is the Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Fintonia Group. Fintonia Group is a regional venture capital and alternative assets fund management firm with an investment focus on financial technology, particularly enterprises that advance financial inclusion for underserved consumers and businesses in emerging markets across Asia. 
 
Prior to Fintonia Group, Adrian served as the CEO of jobsDB.com, a leading regional job portal with over 1,000 employees across operating markets in the region including China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. A major milestone was the A$1billion merger between JobsDB and JobStreet.com. He was also previously CFO of BlueScope Asia and Global Head of Corporate Development at BlueScope. Prior to BlueScope, he held senior strategy and M&A leadership roles at Telstra, and started his career as an M&A investment banker with Merrill Lynch and SBC Warburg (UBS).
