Lessons from the road with Rob Lilwall – Cycling Home from Siberia
BritCham is excited to have Nat Geo Adventurer Rob Lilwall as a speaker on 3 May 2017! Rob will share stories about cycling across the frozen tundra of Siberia, through the thick jungles of Papua New Guinea and over the lonely passes of Afghanistan. An experienced global conference speaker, Rob will also reflect on lessons learned, including effective goal setting, building resilience, becoming more positive, and taking calculated risks.
Rob’s talks about taking on epic challenges and overcoming great obstacles both inspire the mind and impact the heart. But what distinguishes Rob’s storytelling, is the powerful parallels he draws between succeeding on a difficult expedition and thriving in today’s unpredictable business environment. Through personal reflections, practical research-based activities and fun audience participation, Rob shares lessons from the road which are easily applicable to everyday life.
There will be a full breakfast and networking opportunities too.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Rob Lilwall is an ordinary person (in fact, a former geography teacher) who through taking an adventurous attitude to life, has achieved the extraordinary. In the last two decades, he has embarked on expeditions by bicycle and on foot, covering over 80,000 km of the world’s land surface. These have included an unsupported walk across the Gobi Desert in winter; pedalling over the war-torn passes of Afghanistan; and being the first person ever to drag a bicycle across the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea. National Geographic have made two television series about his exploits, and he is the author of two books, Cycling Home From Siberia and Walking Home From Mongolia. As a keynote speaker he has inspired tens of thousands of people around the world, with corporate clients including the likes of Nike, Microsoft, HSBC and Thomson Reuters.
