Women In Business

To provide a forum for members of the BritCham to promote Women in Business in the workplace by focusing on 3 main pillars:



  • Providing opportunities for personal development and developing skills
  • Assisting women in expanding their networks



  • Promoting the business case for gender diversity looking at revenue and cost (e.g. retention and engagement)
  • Sharing reports, research and best practises on gender diversity and women at the workplace;
  • Promoting positive attitudes and behaviour towards females within organisations in Singapore;
  • Increase male participation in the dialogue driving gender diversity
  • Promoting senior leaders who are leading the way in balancing gender diversity in the workplace;
  • Sharing experiences and acting as a learning platform for individuals involved in the Network.



  • Identifying opportunities to help bring awareness to best practice policy

Dora Lui
Barclays Bank PLC
Dora Lui is Vice President, Asia Pacific Strategy for Barclays Investment Bank. Dora has a decade of experience in corporate strategy. Prior to Barclays, Dora was a management consultant with Bain & Company in its Singapore and Sydney offices. During this time, Dora worked in banking, telecommunications, private equity and consumer goods across a range of issues in strategy, transformation, due diligence, post-merger integration and performance improvements.

Prior to her career in strategy, Dora was a Chemical Engineer in Australia and the U.S. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from INSEAD.

Barclays Bank PLC
Angel started her career in a strategy consultancy specializing in Canadian banks before expanding her international footprint with Barclays. Here, she has held positions involving broad strategic initiatives in M&A Integration and Portfolio Divestments, as well as more in-depth roles in Credit Sanctioning for Emerging Markets and Commodities Trade Finance. Currently, Angel is the Country Relationship Director for global MNCs located in Singapore where she aims to augment the Barclays Corporate presence. She holds an MBA from INSEAD.

Belinda Blackburn
Clifford Chance Pte Ltd
Belinda Blackburn is the HR Manager for the Singapore Office of Clifford Chance Asia. Belinda has 12 years of experience in Human Resources across numerous industries including Financial, IT and Professional Services. After completing a BSc in Australia, Belinda started her HR career in London at Citigroup during this time gained her CIPD qualification. After nearly 6 years at Citi, Belinda moved to Switzerland where she worked at Nestle and then back to Australia where she held HR Manager roles at an Australian IT Services company as well as at Deloitte and Knight Frank.

Moving to Singapore earlier this year with her husband and 3 children, Belinda is enjoying living and working with such a diverse population and workforce.

Magda Chelly
Responsible Cyber Pte. Ltd.
Magda is an international business professional, and is passionate about cyber-security. Her career has evolved through technical, business and leadership positions in telecommunications & IT industries through Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. In addition to completing a PhD of Telecommunication Engineering degree, Magda pursued a specialisation in cyber-security from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2016.

She decided then to create her own cyber-security company, dedicated to cyber-security training, awareness and communication.

Caroline Davis
British Council
Caroline Davis is an experienced teacher and taught English language in a variety of public and private educational settings, both overseas and in the UK (Japan, Mexico, Spain & London) for over 16 years. Caroline is committed to continuous professional development and recently completed an MA in Educational Leadership and Management and an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She is dedicated to promoting an understanding of diversity and in particular gender equality and so recently joined the British Council diversity team. She has been in Singapore since 2007 and has a daughter who is currently in nursery school. Her hobbies include running, dance, theatre and art.

April Kwong is a Project Manager with IT Services and Web Application Development company FunctionEight. She currently manages the Singapore, Hong Kong and Philippine development teams and also manages the global client base. She also handles the product development of several web applications for clients including The British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore and Hong Kong. She also spearheaded a programmers women’s initiative PHPWomen Asia. In her free time, she does Yoga and attends meet-ups.

Wanying is Associate Director at Swiss private bank Julius Baer. She works on the International team servicing UHNWI Europeans including UK RnD individuals and families. Wanying spent 14+ formative years growing up between Milan, London and São Paulo before returning to Singapore in 2008. She is a mother of three and leading the women’s initiative in Bank Julius Baer. In her free time, she is either entertaining her rambunctious toddlers, practising her asanas or reading up on fintechs and psychology articles

Sharmila is a dynamic senior woman leader with a proven track record of achievements in global brand building, marketing, digital storytelling, product innovation, account planning, client experience, start ups and advertising across Asia. A self starter with high positivity, she has inspired key client and frontline experiences across global matrix structures creating digital migration campaigns that delivers strong client engagement.

Sharmila as an advocate of diversity drives social entrepreneurship and women support via learning programs and women networking across multiple corporates.

Ayça Ozcanlar
Arup Singapore Pte Ltd
Ayça is a registered architect in Turkey and joined Arup Singapore in 2008 as part of the facade design team. She has over 12 years’ experience working in architectural façade industry with extensive experience. Her previous experience enhanced her in designing various façade systems and inspired her to develop interest and gain expertise in this field of design. She is involved in many major projects in Singapore, India, China, Romania, Germany, Israel and Turkey working with renowned architects, developers and specialist façade contractors. Currently, she is a part time lecturer in NUS Architectural Department and leading Façade India projects in Arup.

Briana Palmer is a Consultant with The Resilience Institute in South East Asia. She has 17 years of corporate experience working for leading multinational organisations across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Briana has business management experience in a variety of disciplines including Business Development, Operations, Marketing, Strategy and Training. In addition, she has a strong interest in flexible work practices. She is a Certified Organisational Coach, Institute of Executive Coaching & Leadership (Level 1) and is passionate about sharing the benefits of the evidence based principles of The Resilience Institute.

Elizabeth Rankin
Elizabeth is a Senior Manager in the Global Mobility Services practice at PwC Singapore. She has over 11 years of UK, US and Singapore tax experience, allowing her to provide holistic international personal tax and global mobility support to her clients. Having worked with PwC UK since 2006, Elizabeth took up a secondment to PwC Singapore to widen her experience and further her professional development. Elizabeth also specialises in providing reward based solutions advising clients on their compensation & benefit strategies including creation of long-term incentive plans and the design and review of equity plans.

Elizabeth graduated from the Brunel University in 2003 with a Business Management degree and is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) in the UK.

Tanglin Trust School Ltd
Benyna is the Director of Continuous Professional Development at Tanglin Trust School. As part of her role she oversees training for all faculty and business support staff, ensuring that the professional development provision meets the needs of the school, whilst supporting individualised learning for all in the community. Since joining Tanglin in 2015, she has worked with the Institute of Education UCL, to facilitate the National Professional Qualifications in Middle and Senior Leadership, specifically working with international schools in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Prior to joining Tanglin, Benyna was based in the UK where she worked as programmes manager for a large education charity and was Chair of Governors at a school in North London.

Beatrice Seilern is the Managing Editor of Giles Publications, an Asia-based communications agency supporting many of the region’s best-known and best-loved organisations. She works closely with clients including AIA, Swire and Yahoo to hone their marketing and comms material, taking projects from concept through to delivery. She also provides in-house training designed to address common questions and concerns.

Beatrice is a seasoned communications professional with 12 years’ media and communications experience, six of those spent here in Singapore. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and a diploma in Journalism.

Cath is responsible for internal diversity and inclusion initiatives within EY Asean. This includes consulting with business leaders and the talent team to ensure that D&I is embedded in everything we do at EY, leading specific initiatives to create a more inclusive culture. Cath has over ten years broad-based experience in Talent, Organisation Development & Change Management projects across a number of blue-chip organisations, including Accenture, P&G, and EY.

Ruchi is an Associate Partner at St. James's Place Wealth Management, a FTSE 100 company who expanded to Singapore two years ago. She works closely with her clients to provide highly personalised advice on various aspects of wealth management, focusing on investment, retirement, protection and estate planning. Ruchi has a MSc Finance from Cass Business School in London and a BSc Economics from the University of Nottingham. In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit with runs, yoga and tennis, reading and making the most of Singapore’s fantastic location for South-East Asian travel.
