Women In Business

To provide a forum for members of the BritCham to promote Women in Business in the workplace by focusing on 3 main pillars:

 

Performance

  • Providing opportunities for personal development and developing skills
  • Assisting women in expanding their networks

 

Productivity

  • Promoting the business case for gender diversity looking at revenue and cost (e.g. retention and engagement)
  • Sharing reports, research and best practises on gender diversity and women at the workplace;
  • Promoting positive attitudes and behaviour towards females within organisations in Singapore;
  • Increase male participation in the dialogue driving gender diversity
  • Promoting senior leaders who are leading the way in balancing gender diversity in the workplace;
  • Sharing experiences and acting as a learning platform for individuals involved in the Network.

 

Policy

  • Identifying opportunities to help bring awareness to best practice policy

Angel started her career in a strategy consultancy specializing in Canadian banks before expanding her international footprint with Barclays. Here, she has held positions involving broad strategic initiatives in M&A Integration and Portfolio Divestments, as well as more in-depth roles in Credit Sanctioning for Emerging Markets and Commodities Trade Finance. Currently, Angel is the Country Relationship Director for global MNCs located in Singapore where she aims to augment the Barclays Corporate presence. She holds an MBA from INSEAD.

Emma has been in IT for over 17 years and predominately been working in the UK and across Asia Pacific. She has held many leadership and management roles. Whilst at Harvey Nash, Emma was responsible for the tendering process globally and helped bring in some of their largest accounts. She joined CIO Connect in the UK in 2010 to run their operations and events. Throughout that time she grew their annual conference from 30 to 250 attendees. Emma moved to Singapore in 2011 and took on the challenge of opening CIO Connect Pte Ltd. Now the Managing Director of Operations for Asia Pacific, Emma is responsible for full operations and client relationship management.

Magda is an international business professional, and is passionate about cyber-security. Her career has evolved through technical, business and leadership positions in telecommunications & IT industries through Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. In addition to completing a PhD of Telecommunication Engineering degree, Magda pursued a specialisation in cyber-security from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2016.

She decided then to create her own cyber-security company, dedicated to cyber-security training, awareness and communication.

Caroline Davis is an experienced teacher and taught English language in a variety of public and private educational settings, both overseas and in the UK (Japan, Mexico, Spain & London) for over 16 years. Caroline is committed to continuous professional development and recently completed an MA in Educational Leadership and Management and an International Postgraduate Certificate in Education. She is dedicated to promoting an understanding of diversity and in particular gender equality and so recently joined the British Council diversity team. She has been in Singapore since 2007 and has a daughter who is currently in nursery school. Her hobbies include running, dance, theatre and art.

She is a mother of three and leading the women’s initiative in Bank Julius Baer. In her free time, she is either entertaining her rambunctious toddlers, practising her asanas or reading up on fintechs and psychology articles

Ayça is a registered architect in Turkey and joined Arup Singapore in 2008 as part of the facade design team. She has over 12 years’ experience working in architectural façade industry with extensive experience. Her previous experience enhanced her in designing various façade systems and inspired her to develop interest and gain expertise in this field of design. She is involved in many major projects in Singapore, India, China, Romania, Germany, Israel and Turkey working with renowned architects, developers and specialist façade contractors. Currently, she is a part time lecturer in NUS Architectural Department and leading Façade India projects in Arup.

Having worked with PwC UK since 2006, Elizabeth took up a secondment to PwC Singapore to widen her experience and further her professional development. Elizabeth also specialises in providing reward based solutions advising clients on their compensation & benefit strategies including creation of long-term incentive plans and the design and review of equity plans.

Elizabeth graduated from the Brunel University in 2003 with a Business Management degree and is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) in the UK.

Since joining Tanglin in 2015, she has worked with the Institute of Education UCL, to facilitate the National Professional Qualifications in Middle and Senior Leadership, specifically working with international schools in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

Prior to joining Tanglin, Benyna was based in the UK where she worked as programmes manager for a large education charity and was Chair of Governors at a school in North London.
